Columbia Gorge Research, LLC (CGR) has developed a series of products that have been used to support aerospace, defense, civil structure, medical, electric power, manufacturing and environmental monitoring applications. Most of these products are associated with fiber optic interferometers or fiber grating sensor systems. Consulting and system engineering support has been used with other types of fiber optic sensor systems such as fiber etalons and distributed fiber sensing techniques. In many cases CGR coordinates closely with other companies who act as vendors, subcontractors and collaborators on projects in order to offer the best possible solution for its customers.
While CGR offers stand-alone products, systems are often customized to meet specific customer needs and often involve combinations of CGR products and products associated with companies it closely collaborates with. Prices vary dependent upon customer requirements, quantities and other factors please contact admin@cgresearchllc.com.
Fiber optic sensor product service areas:
Fiber Optic Interferometers
Sagnac fiber optic acoustic sensors, for perimeter security, surveillance, insect detection and as a building block for distributed sensing
Long gauge length strain sensing using the Sagnac interferometer
Michelson interferometers, combined with fiber gratings for oil and gas, and surveillance applications
Secure fiber optic communication systems based on the Sagnac interferometer
Fiber Grating Sensor Systems
Multiparameter Fiber Grating Sensor Systems
CGR personnel have invented and developed a series of fiber grating sensor system that can be used to sense more than one environmental parameter at the same time. Notable examples include multiple dimensions of strain and temperature, and pressure and temperature.
Two and three dimensional strain sensing using single or dual fiber gratings overwritten at the same location onto birefringent optical fiber
Fiber optic pressure and temperature sensors based on side hole, birefringent or transversely loaded optical fiber
High speed fiber grating sensor systems
CGR has been developing a series of high speed fiber sensor grating systems since 2006 that have resolution on the order of a nanosecond or better to measure velocity, position, temperature, strain and pressure associated with high speed events. These systems can be utilized in extreme environments and can be used to test energetic material, rupture of pressure vessels, high speed crashes, mining and demolition operations. Individual component products and systems are offered.
Uniform and chirped fiber gratings and assemblies
One, two and four channel 19 inch rack systems have been deployed at DOE and DOD sites to support testing of energetic materials
Long chirped fiber gratings off continuous measurement of velocity and position of a pressure wave
Side hole optical fibers offer the ability to simultaneously measure pressure and temperature
Testing energetic materials using Russian DDT tests that allow transition from burn, to deflagration to detonation to be observed as well as giving information on local pressure.
Side-hole fiber used to support pressure and temperature in a Russian DDT pipe with uniform burn
Russian DDT test showing the transition from burn, to deflagration to detonation of energetic material under test
Monitoring impact tests behind debris associated with targets
Monitoring pressure distribution and shock wave position at critial points during card gap testing
